Andre the Giant Steps Back Into The Ring
At 7"4' and 500 pounds, Andre
the Giant was one of
the world's most famous professional athletes of the 1970s
and 1980s. Career highlights include his big screen debut
as Fezzik, the gentle giant in The Princess Bride (1987),
and triumphing over Hulk Hogan for the World Wrestling Federation's
Heavyweight Title in 1988. In May 2002 he was honored as part
of the first class of inductees at the newly formed Professional
Wrestling Hall of Fame in Schenectady, New York.
Acclaim Entertainment has utilized this wrestling great
in video game sequel Legends of Wrestling II, which features
all-new matches and over 65 superstars. In addition to Andre
the Giant, this best-of-the-best roster includes Hulk Hogan,
the Road
Warriors, Greg
"The Hammer" Valentine, Rowdy
Roddy Piper and Bret "Hitman" Hart. Legends of Wrestling II
will debut in Fall 2002, with versions compatible to Play
Station 2 and Game Cube systems. It will be distributed worldwide
with an approximate retail value of $50. For more information,
visit www.acclaim.com.
"Legends of Wrestling II packs the power of some of the best
names in this business," Hulk Hogan said in anticipation of
the game. "I can't wait to take my 24-inch pythons and lock-up
with Andre The Giant and relive one of the greatest matches
of my career." However, with the game's technology, true-to-life
graphics and Andre's fans at the controls, it might be Hogan
himself who's staring up at the ceiling.
