Mark Twain In A "Prince" Of An Ad Campaign

"The Prince and The Pauper" ad campaign Mark Twain's popularity began to pick up when his short story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calavaras County, appeared in the New York Saturday Press on November 18, 1865. Twain followed the story with his first book, The Innocents Abroad, published in 1869. He became a household name with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885).

Recently, Investments insurance company The Hartford began utilizing the American author for a promotional print campaign. Advertising agency Arnold Communications developed the ad, which references Twain's book, The Prince and the Pauper. This year-long campaign launched in May 2002, and will appear in the publications Rough Notes, Independent Agent, and American Agent and Broker.
