Ella Fitzgerald, Helen Hayes
Photos to Benefit Charities
As part of the effort to revitalize
lower Manhattan after the terrorist attacks on September 11,
2001, American Express
is celebrating their return to the World Financial Center with
a special exhibit.
"Rewarding Lives: A Celebration of Personal Freedom," was unveiled
in the American Express lobby on October 11 and will be on display
through December 31. The exhibit features popular American Express
Cardmember portraits taken by world-renowned portrait artist
Annie Leibovitz. Included amongst them are autographed portraits
of the "The First Lady of Song," Ella
Fitzgerald, and "The First
Lady of the American Theater," Helen
Hayes.
All the items on display will be sold for charity in an online
auction that opens to American Express Cardmembers November
24. Proceeds will be donated to multiple charities, with the
main portion being given to the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
For more information, please visit the American Express Web
site.
