Amelia Earhart appearing in NBC Studios Flight Exhibit

Amelia Earhart Amelia Earhart loved the challenges and triumphs flying afforded her. During her career she set numerous men’s and women’s records for speed, altitude and distance. She became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in 1922 and the first person to cross the Pacific from Hawaii to California. Amelia perished tragically during a nearly-completed attempt to become the first woman to fly around the world. Her courage, talent and determination made her perhaps the most important woman in aviation history.

Beginning on July 29, Amelia’s image has been displayed in a graphic montage in the
NBC Studios Lobby in New York City. The exhibit, “100 Years of Flight,” features an aviation history timeline accented with photographs of important figures from the advent of the first flying machines until today. Amelia’s photograph appears on the timeline near an image of Charles Lindbergh, the first man to complete a trans-Atlantic flight. In addition to the exhibit at NBC Studios, the “100 Years of Flight” timeline will be used on 5000 posters to be sold later this year.
