Wrestling fans mourn the loss of Michael “Road Warrior Hawk” Hegstrand

The Road Warriors, Hawk (left) and Animal (right) CMG Worldwide regretfully reports that Tag Team Wresting Superstar, Michael “Hawk” Hegstrand died at home in his sleep on October 19, 2003. He was 46 years old.

Hegstrand was half of the most dominant tag team in professional wrestling history: The Road Warriors (aka The Legion of Doom). Hawk and his partner, Joe “Animal” Laurinaitis, took the wrestling world by storm in 1983 and remained partners for the next 20 years. The duo was the first and only tag team to win professional wrestling's AWA, NWA, WCW and WWF tag titles, in additional to the NWA World Six-Man titles and the NWA International tag title. Today, the Road Warriors remain immensely popular internationally, having made frequent trips to Japan and Korea in 2003, garnering new championships, and continuing to strike fear in their opponents. Hawk and Animal are recognized as the most innovative and groundbreaking tag team ever to enter the "squared-circle," and were named wrestling's Tag Team of the Century in 2000.

There is no doubt Hawk will be missed by millions of wrestling fans throughout the world. We remember him fondly, and our deepest sympathy is extended to Hawk’s wife, family, friends and wrestling fans across the world.
