Sophia Loren to appear in 100th career film
Sophia Loren is
considered one of the best-loved, most phenomenal actresses in history, with
a career spanning more than 50 years.
Despite competition from Audrey Hepburn
in Breakfast
at Tiffany's and Natalie Wood in Splendor
in the Grass,
Sophia became the first actor in a foreign film to be honored with a Best Actress
Academy Award®, thanks to her heart-wrenching performance in Two
Women.
She received an Honorary Oscar® for Lifetime Achievement in 1990, and in 1999
People magazine called her "one of the world's most stunning and age resistant
women."
On October 5th 2003 Sophia Loren’s 100th film Between Strangers will
be premiering on WE:
Women’s Entertainment channel.
The picture stars of acclaimed actors such as; Mira Sorvino, Malcom McDowell,
Gerard Depardieu and Deborah Kara Unger. The film is a story of three women
realizing and dealing with the choices and consequences of some of their life
decisions.
Sophia plays a housewife who is unhappy in her marriage. As each woman tells
her story she begins to remember her dreams and ambitions had as child. The
women then begin to shed their old and unhappy lives for a more content life
inspired by each of their desires.
The film was directed by Sophia’s son Edoardo Ponti, he commented that who realized the part was for Sophia when he was “writing a character whose soul was very close to my mom’s.”
