Joe DiMaggio joins “preferred” ad campaign
Former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda once said, “If you said to God, ‘Create someone who was what a baseball player should be,’ God would have created Joe
DiMaggio... and he did.” Also known as “Joltin’ Joe” and the “Yankee Clipper,” DiMaggio was an 11 time All-Star who played in 10 World Series championships.
Miller Brewing Company has selected this baseball
legend as part of their “What do you prefer” advertising campaign. In DiMaggio’s
print advertisement, consumers are given the option of choosing between him and
former Red Sox player Ted Williams. This ad originally debuted in the 2004 Sports
Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Similar ads from this program offer other choice
comparisons, such as blondes versus brunettes, and cats versus dogs.
Miller’s new advertising campaign debuted in February and will continue being
promoted through July 2004. In addition to the printed version, the ads featuring
DiMaggio and others can be found on MillerBrewing.com.
