Carmen Miranda’s 50th Anniversary
The year 2005 is the year of Carmen Miranda’s 50th Anniversary and the world
will honor the life and career of the actress that left Brazil to conquer American
stages and movie screens in the 1940’s. Carmen became the highest paid actress
in Hollywood. During her stardom signature fruit headdresses and outrageous
costumes paired with great charisma made her a Brazilian cultural icon to the
rest of the world.
In honor of the Anniversary, many events are being planned in Brazil and all
over the world. In July the Brazilian writer Ruy Castro will launch the book “Carmen,” the
most complete biography of the actress revealing facts of her life that not even
the heirs knew about. Also, CMG Worldwide is planning a mega exhibition that
will gather a collection of never-before seen personal items, accessories, photos
of the actress and videos, amongst other things. The exhibit will be the greatest
cultural project ever accomplished on the subject, which will give visitors an
intimate contact with the history of one of the greatest Brazilian personalities
of all time.
Carmen Miranda also influenced the fashion world and no doubt a lot of the Brazilian
designs throughout the years have been inspired in her peculiar and outrageous
way of dressing.
This is an ideal opportunity for companies and ad agencies to plan the launch
of licensed products and ad campaigns using the image of the talented "Brazilian
Bombshell." For more information please visit Carmen
Miranda's official Web site.
